sabadilla plant

Background:

Sabadilla was first discovered as a medicinal plant in the 16th century by natives in Central and South America. Upon its discovery, it was first used mainly for lice and parasitic intestinal worms. Around the turn of the 19th century, Sabadilla was also used as a palliative for hay-fever.  Exposure to this plant results in symptoms that are similar to those due to cold or hay fever,.  A theory suggests if you take enough Sabadilla, in diluted forms, that you will develop resistance and immunity to allergens that cause hay-fever and sinus congestion.

Homeopathic uses:

Sabadilla is a homeopathic remedy for hay-fever, allergies and sinus congestion. This herb was also used to help cure fever, tonsillitis, children’s diphtheria diarrhea, sore throats and parasitic worms, both in humans and in dogs. Sabadilla was also used in Europe for acute rheumatism, gout and inflammation. It was also used as a topical anesthetic.

In homeopathy, Sabadilla is extensively prescribed for treating hay fever, allergies and other health conditions. The symptoms of these health conditions include sporadic sneezing accompanied by runny nose, reddish eyes, acute frontal pain, diarrhea associated incessant splitting. These conditions may also be accompanied by a burning sensation in the eyes, watering from the eyes and a tearing headache, dry and tender throat making it difficult to swallow anything.

This homeopathic medicine is also used to eliminate thread worms in kids. Sabadilla is a useful medicine for treating intestinal worms that brings about nausea, which, in turn, results in vomiting.  Homeopathic medicines may prove to be very effective in treating intestinal worms and occasionally they are sufficient to get rid of such worms. Nevertheless, homeopathic medicines are also effective and safe when they are used concurrently with conventional medicines while treating intestinal worms.

Possible Side Effects

Poisoning symptoms may include retching, muscle spasms, slowed heart beat and decreased blood pressure. Currently, the EPA does not expect that Sabadilla will have high mobility in soils and only presents minimal risks to small mammals.  Sabadilla in a diluted form has no poisoning risks.

Homeopathy in double blind placebo trials have shown to be more effective than a placebo for ear infections.  The first trial was done in 1997 by the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.  The trial had 131 children.  They were divided in two groups.  The first group was the placebo group.  The second group was the homeopathy group. The homeopathy group recovered almost a day faster from the ear infection group.

The second trial in England was done by the British Homeopathic Journal.  There was 231 children.  This study showed that 72% recovered 2.4 times quicker than the placebo group.

A recent trial compared antibiotics against placebos for ear infections. This sudy was conducted by the journal of the American Medical Association.  The results showed that the group taking the antibiotics improved slightly.  However, many patients experienced adverse side effects such as rash and diarrhea.  The meta analysis concluded that antibiotics were no better for treatment than a placebo.

Homeopathy may be good for mild ear infections.  More research is needed.  Two successful homeopathic trials had a small sample group.  A trial with a larger sample group should be considered for future trials.

Cimicifuga Racemosa
Background:
Cimicifuga Racemosa also known as black cohosh, black bugbane or black snakeroot.  It is native to eastern North America from the extreme south of Ontario, Georgia, and west to Missouri
and Arkansas.  This plant has white flowers in summer that can be between 4 to 7 inches high.  The roots and rhizomes of black cohosh have long been used medicinally by Native to treat gynecological and other disorders, including sore throats, kidney problems, and depression. Extracts from these plant materials are thought to possess analgesic, sedative, and anti-inflammatory properties.  Some physiological effects of black cohosh extracts, it was originally thought these effects were solely due to estrogen compounds.

Homeopathic black cohosh is popular as an alternative to hormonal therapy in the treatment of menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, mood disturbances, for breast cancer, infertility, menstrual migraine and vaginal dryness. Several studies have reported black cohosh improves menopausal symptoms for
up to six months. Clinical results show improvement in sweating, headache, vertigo, heart palpitations, tinnitus, nervousness, irritability, sleep disturbance, anxiety and depression.

rhematoid arthirits.

Homeopathy and Vaccines

Tags: Vaccines, homeopathy against vaccines

Dr. Andrew Wakefield study that vaccines can contribute to autism is considered fradulent by the British Medicial Journal.  Dr. Wakefield through his research found that vaccines contribute to autism if too many vaccines are taken at once.  He recommends the infacts get a couple shots a time every month.  14 other studies performed after this one found no evidence of vaccines causing autism.  The doctor still stands by his study today.  He said the data was not manipulated in any way.  Many of the people that had peer reviewed this study do not support it anymore.  However, other doctors that peer reviewed this study still stand by the results.  They still support  some of these findings.  How accurate is this trial is still under debate?  Many Americans and UK parents are not vaccinating their children due to this study.  Autism in children is at an all time high.  No one has been able to figure out why as of now.

There is a misconception that homeopaths recommend not giving infant's vaccines.  This is a fallacy.  There are certain homeopaths that recommend against infant vaccines.  However, other homeopaths have differing opinions.  Peter Fischer, the homeopathic physician to the royal family, says vaccines should be taken by infants.  Homeopathy does not offer any substitutes to childhood vaccinations.

In conclusion, homeopathy is not against vaccines.  Homeopathy offers no substitutes to vaccines.  Some homeopaths may be against vaccines but that is their opinion.  Wakefield's study have made people look for alternatives to vaccines.

haiti nursing studentsHomeopaths without borders, an organization of homeopaths that helps nations during disasters, has made their 5th trip to Haiti.  This organization made their first trip February of 2010.  The situation was quite grim in February.  This organization helped to treat patients in Haiti for ailments such as burns, physical trauma ,injuries, fear, dizziness, headaches, urinary tract infections, eye problems and dehydration.

The situation in Haiti has improved significantly since February.  Haiti still does need International help.  This November trip, a group of homeopaths returned to Saint Vincent's School For Handicapped Children.  Ailments treated there were acute and/or chronic stomach problems, headaches, eye problems, rash and cough.

Homeopaths without borders has visited Universite Notre Dame D’Haiti twice.  The first time was to set up a homeopath training class.  The class consisted of 120 nursing students.  The homeopaths went back a few days later to treat students that may have any ailments.

This group also visited the baptist mission in Delmar area of Port Au Prince.  The group treated children with severe cases of scabies and other rashes, fevers, stomach problems, and other ailments.

Homeopaths without borders will continue to visit Haiti for the short term.  They are looking to expand their homeopathy training classes for nursing students.   Long range goals include opening up a homeopathic clinic to treat patients in Haiti.

homeopathy for pets

Homeopathy is one of the leading alternative type of medical treatments for humans.  This alternative type of medicine is now being used by vets as well.  Many dog and cat owners say homeopathy treatments work for their pets.  Horses and other type of animals also have claimed success using homeopathic treatments.  Homeopathy provides a cost effective way to treat pets compared to allopathic medicine.  Little information is available about homeopathic treatments for pets.  A new UK survey hopes to fix this issue.

A UK survey was done treating pets with homeopathy.  The survey found that dogs and cats were helped by this type of alternative type of medicine.  This was a clinical outcomes study.  UK survey collected data from 1500 dogs and 400 cats from various homeopathic vet surgeons.  Common conditions include dermatitis, renal failure, overgrooming, arthritis and hyperthyroidism were treated with homeopathic medicine.  Owners supported a success rate of 68% for dogs.  63% was the success rate for cats.

The results from this survey was quite impressive.  Animals are not know to have placebo effects.  Authors concluded that trials in homeopathy for dogs and cats should be conducted after this study.  There are no homeopathy trial studies with cats and dogs at this point.

Dissecting the Adverse Effects of Surgical Procedures

Posted by Sanjib Sarkar on Tue, Dec 07, 2010 @ 10:18 AM

This article is a guest post by curing hemmorhoid miracle solutions.  I appreciate their contribution to our homeopathy blog.

People have been increasingly reliant on modern medicine. Medical interventions have been able to help prolong lives, especially with the help of modern surgical procedures. It is amazing to know that modern surgical procedures are able to do incredible things to save a person’s life.

One example of this is the bariatric surgery. It has become the more popular option, especially to those who have become morbidly obese. Though this procedure is considered to be highly effective in losing weight, the adverse effects of this procedure cannot be denied.

Nausea and vomiting are the most common adverse effects of bariatric surgery. But the more serious adverse effect would be the development of infection from the wound acquired from the surgery, resulting to leaks from the stomach into the abdominal cavity. Cases like this require the patient to undergo another operation.

Another great example would be the hemorrhoidectomy. It is a surgical procedure that is done to remove hemorrhoids. In other procedures, a circular stapling device is used to remove hemorrhoidal tissue and close the wound. However, this procedure does not require incision. What it does it that, it only lifts the hemorrhoid. After which, it is then placed back (or "stapled") in the anal canal.

The adverse effect in this procedure is that, 5% of the time, hemorrhoids come back after the surgery. It also leaves you the inability to control the bowel movement and even the bladder. Not only that, it leaves you at risk for infection of the surgical area because some of the stool may be trapped in the anal area.

Removal of gallstones is another example of surgical procedures that can also pose some risk factors to one’s health. One risk factor would be infection on the incision or internal bleeding. Injury to the small intestines may also be experienced by one of the instruments used during the surgery.

All these and other medical surgical procedures provide post-operation risks and other complications. Studies show that the success of these surgical procedures like the aforementioned depends on the ability of the patient to make changes in his lifestyle.

These conditions can be avoided. Say, hemorrhoids, for example. Hemorrhoids can be avoided from occurring or from coming back if you will be able to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. For one, you have to avoid the common causes of hemorrhoids such as eating too much processed food, prolonged sitting or standing.

The same goes with other ailments as well. Taking care of your body from the inside and out will keep you from getting morbidly obese or from suffering from chronic diseases.

Holly Hayden is a respected authority on using herbs to cure your hemorrhoid naturally. Her free report on this method has helped thousands of people see curing your hemorrhoid using herbs. Her exclusive system has already helped thousands of people treat their hemorrhoids towards elimination without surgery or ineffective creams.
